Asos reported its retail sales were up 34% year on year in the fourth quarter that ended
31 March 2012. Overall sales amounted to £124.16 million, UK sales to £47.11 million. Total international sales amounted to £77.04 million. This result is up 69% compared to the same period of last Q4 2010/11.
Asos’ full-year retail sales were up 49% in 2011/12, amounted to £481.56 million compared to £324.100 million in 2010/11. In the fourth quarter of 2012, ASOS’ retail sales were up 49% year on year (UK +7%, International +103%) whereas international sales were 59% of total; UK sales were 41% of total. On this performance, Nick Robertson, CEO, commented, “I am pleased to report a strong fourth quarter performance for both our UK and international businesses, particularly as we annualised against the introduction of Global Free Shipping last year. We ended the quarter with international sales representing 62% of the total up from 51% last year. Profit before tax and exceptional items for the full year to 31 March 2012 are expected to be in line with expectations.”
