Pop star Kylie Minogue launched her latest line of underwear in London last week. The LK Legs hosiery line was shown by models in frisky suspender belts and fishnets at 5, Cavendish Square. 36-year old Minogue proudly announced that the line, now in its fourth year, was continually improving.

"LK Legs are for all women, whether it's the sexy secretary or screen icon look you're adopting," said Minogue. Wearing skin tight jeans and knee-high boots, she ignored speculation about her relationship with French heartthrob Olivier Martinez, and concentrated on promoting the new line. Kylie Launches Love Kylie Legs

Like the diminutive singer herself, Kylie Minogue's business empire is small but perfectly formed. This week, Minogue unveiled a collection of Cabaret-style hosiery called Love Kylie Legs - a brand extension of her Love Kylie lingerie label that launched in the UK in February 2003.

Kylie nightwear will soon follow. Selfridges, which won the right to launch Love Kylie exclusively, says it was the store's biggest-selling lingerie launch, with sales of more than 5,000 units in the first week.

Avril sets t-shirt trend

A US elementary school is cashing in on a wardrobe decision by pop singer Avril Lavigne. She wears a Wilkesboro Elementary School T-shirt in the video for her song Sk8er Boi.
The green-and-gold T-shirts hadn't been sold for at least four years, but with the Canadian singer giving them new currency, the school's Parent Teacher Organisation ordered 500.

Principal Mike Dancy said he learned from a Canadian writer that Lavigne probably found the shirt in a New York thrift store. The writer was doing a story on how the singer popularises almost everything she wears, he said.

About 300 of the shirts have been sold on eBay to buyers as far away as Sweden and Thailand, said Marcia Reynolds, the school's PTO president.

"It's kind of exciting that people all over the world are seeing our school's name," Reynolds said.

The shirts sell for USD 20 online or USD 10 at the school. The proceeds will be used to buy computers. "This is going to end up helping our students, and we're grateful for that," Dancy said.

Becker fashion belly up

A new business flop for Boris Becker: 'Bild am Sonntag' reported this weekend that the firm that should have produced Boris' fashion collection is broke. The German newspaper wrote that Pro-Sport AG, the company that since August last year is trying to launch Beckers fashion collection, has registered for insolvency.

Beckers business partner has run in financial difficulties and possibly owes a German textile factory one-quarter million euro. According to 'Bild am Sonntag' the district attorney's office has filed an investigation into Pro-Sports chairman in 2001, concerning a possible documents forgery.
Beckers spokesman Robert Lübenoff said in the paper that the contract with Pro-Sport has been dissolved and that Becker is now looking to transfer the fashion project to other partners.

Anna Nicole Smith worst dressed woman of 2002

Former fashion designer Earl Blackwell named former Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith this week as the worst dressed woman of 2002. Smith was followed directly by a number of pop singers including Christina Aguilera and Shakira, actresses like Meg Ryan and Cameron Diaz, Britain's Princess Anne and Kelly Osbourne, the daughter of British rocker Ozzy Osbourne.

Blackwell said Smith topped his 43rd annual list because "Anna's fashion follies are the worst of the year ... don't bother with a new designer Anna, just hire a structural engineer!" In second place on the Blackwell list was another star of a reality series, Kelly Osbourne. Blackwell described her as "A fright-wigged Baby Doll, stuck in a Goth prom gown.

Numbers three to ten on Blackwell’s List are: Shakira (for wearing not enough clothes), Cameron Diaz (for looking like a clown), Britain’s Princess Anne (too boring), Anne Rice (scary), Donatella Versace (too blonde), Meg Ryan (she’s a fashion wreck), Christina Aguilera (she’s dirrrty and wearing almost nothing) and Pink (she’s not original). Mr. Blackwell’s Annual List has been frightening celebs since 1960.

Cedella Marley starts clothes line

Bob Marley’s Grammy award-winning daughter, Cedella, took a break from singing reggae tunes to present her own clothing line at a fashion show. She says she designs for women with an eye for the adventurous, but doesn’t want her Catch A Fire line to be boxed into any category.

“I wouldn’t classify it as anything — I don’t like to classify”, said Marley, 35, who has no formal training as a designer. She spoke by telephone from her Miami home. “My clothing is for people who want to express their individuality.”

The collection was shown Saturday in Kingston as part of Caribbean Fashionweek.

Strong on denim with an urban theme, the Catch A Fire line has caught on with celebrities in the United States, including singer Gwen Stefani of No Doubt and actress Angela Bassett.

After winning four Grammies as a member of the Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers reggae group, Bob Marley’s first-born daughter decided two years ago to pursue her longtime hobby of fashion designing.

Spears makes worst-dressed list

Money can't buy good taste apparently, this much it to be learned now Britney Spears has been voted the world's worst-dressed celebrity. She’s following in the shoes of Victoria Beckham who topped the worst-dressed poll for the past two years, but in a total turnaround, she was named the world's best-dressed celebrity this year.

Madonna came second in the celebrity fashion victims' poll, but her sense of style split voters as she also made it onto the list of best-dressed celebrities. Glamour model Jordan's cleavage-revealing outfits earned her third place.
