VFS's ones to watchTuesday, 18 August 2009
For SS10, ‘Ones to Watch’ offers a dynamic collection of four womenswear designers who will make their debut in London. This year’s fresh new talent includes: Ada Zanditon, Dean Quinn, Hermione de Paula and Marko Mitanovski.
Ada Zanditon graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2007, worked with great designers including Gareth Pugh. She established her own label in 2008, which is based on the principles of sustainable design. Dean Quinn is a fashion graduate from Central Saint Martins BA course and winner of its Womenswear Designer of the Year Award 2009. Dean’s collection streamlined futuristic tailoring fused with underlying dark nuances of a Femme Fatale.
Hermione de Paula is a fashion graduate from Central Saint Martins, where she studied fashion & print design. Thereafter Hermione went on to work with Alexander McQueen and John Galliano before setting up her self-named label last year. And then there is Marko Mitanovski graduated from the College of Design in Belgrade, Serbia. He was awarded ‘Best Young Designer’, at Belgrade Fashion Week in October 2008, following the presentation of his ‘Lady Macbeth’ collection.
This year’s line up of new designers was chosen by an expert panel includes of Caren Downie (Womenswear Buying Director for ASOS), Susanna Lau, Dazed Digital journalist and creator of blog stylebubble.com, Andrew Ibi, owner of the cult boutique The Convenience Store, and Martyn Roberts and John Walford, co-founders of Vauxhall Fashion Scout.
