GraduateFashionWeekThis year, Graduate Fashion Week will take the challenge of the competitive marketplace, and is looking forward to probably one of the most interesting years to date. History dictates that creative forces thrive in a recession and new energy and ideas are required to drive business forward. High street fashion retailer and title sponsor River Island, continues support the event and its emerging talent with a remarkable 5th year of sponsorship.

GraduateFashionWeek"Our industry thrives on new ideas and I think that now, more than ever before, it is important to inject new energy and life into our design studios and creative teams. Our sponsorship of Graduate Fashion Week has put us in the enviable position of being amongst the first to witness and embrace the emergence of some of the brightest new stars in the industry and I am proud to say that a large percentage of our current team is full of talent sourced at this exciting event," commented Richard Bradbury, CBE, CEO, River Island.

Over the past four years 69 new graduates have joined River Island, 25 scouted directly at the event to become part of the 100-strong design team responsible for creating new designs hitting River Island stores every day. Attracting industry players and international commentators, Graduate Fashion Week each year it celebrates the work of more than 1000 of the BA Degree fashion students from 50 member universities across the UK.

Graduate Fashion Week's move to Earls Court 2 last year gave the event additional space to grow into and saw an even greater rise in attendance. For 2009 the organisers hope to encourage many more to attend the dedicated public day on Sunday, 7 June. As a registered charity the existence of Graduate Fashion Week is entirely dependent on sponsorship and further more made possible by Mulberry, Pringle of Scotland, L'Oreal Professionnel, Renault, Abby Well water and Lifeline IT.
