Birkin for Lutz & Patmos

New York based luxe knitwear line Lutz & Patmos has announced British actress, singer and mother to actress Charlotte Gainsbourg Jane Birkin as its official guest designer. According to co-creator of the brand Tina Lutz, Birkin’s nonchalant style and humanitarian activism
(for Amnesty International) made her the perfect muse for the brand.
The actress who is not big on public appearances, is likely to be profitable to the brand, with her name already cemented into fashion history via the infamous Hermes Birkin bag. While neither a launch date nor price points for the Birkin line have yet been announced, the mainline of the spring/summer 2009 collection will be presented as part of New York Fashion Week on September 9. It’s yet unclear if the publicly shy Birkin will make a cameo in New York.
Birkin is in good company, as Lutz & Patmos can already name the likes of Richard Meier, Julianne Moore, Christy Turlington, Carine Roitfeld, Liv Tyler, Kirsten Dunst and Sofia Coppola among its seasonal collaborators.
