Milan AW10 mens catwalk: Prada

Monday, 18 January 2010
Muccia Prada told WGSN her AW10 collection "..was about real life: life is more exciting than ideas. I wanted to reinvent the classics and reinvent the banal. Prints referenced early 90s Prada collections - I wanted to make the camo elegant not sporty."

Key silhouettes for next winter were short and sharp with square-cut or triangular shapes, mixed with overlong pants shapes and cropped knit proportions that had a late-60s/early-70s feel.

Knitwear featured strongly from cropped waist-baring cardigans and tanks to chunky belted knit jackets - often space-dyed or marled. Outerwear came as high-waisted variations on the reefer coat, with emphasis on collar and button details and tailoring worked around the 2SB blazer or suit. Flat-fronted pant shapes were longer this season, creasing over the foot.

Colours were a medley of camel-toned autumnal neutrals, bark brown, grey and black offset with accents of winter white, geranium and orchid pink, buttermilk, poppy and sky blue.
