Monsoon's SS2011

Offering a versatile and ultra chic collection for the up and coming season, Monsoon tells a story that travels through the most poignant and memorable decades of style with a fresh and new feel for 2011.

A strong influence of both the 1970s and 1950s is reflected, with the collection opening with Kasbah; luxe pieces influenced by the stunning beach resorts of Morocco and India’s Rajasthani desert towns and Havelis. The timeless and unmistakable signature style of 1970s can be seen here, through crochet, tassels, ruffles and maxi lengths. Emphasis remains on embellishment and adornment rather then colour. Ethnic khaki greens are layered with tans, creams and beige. Key pieces include jumpsuits and fringed waistcoats.

Moving on to Miami, there is a strong feeling of vintage nostalgia, created by classic nautical styling and a fresh white palette mixed with pops of coral and pastel shades. Team white bootleg jeans with a floral pussy boy blouse or striped blazer to recreate this effortlessly cool look.

Bloom takes inspiration from the ladylike and feminine dress of the early1950’s. Statement pieces feature puff skirted prom as well as figure hugging pencil dresses covered in overblown vibrant blooms and ditsy digital florals. Embroidered silks, printed chiffon and appliqué cottons make for a perfect spring time collection.

Finally, Era combines the Hollywood glamour and red carpet magic of bygone years. Showcasing dramatic signature shapes such as the floor sweeping maxi, sharp shift and chiffon trapeze. This collection shows no fear of colour with a vast spectrum of show stopping brights including aqua, canary yellow and burnt orange. Adding even more luxury and decadence, sparkling gemstones and jewels embellish necklines, hems and cuffs. Unforgettable pieces include the aqua jewelled high neck maxi dress and yellow maxi with silver beading and chiffon layers.  For more information go to www.monsoon.co.uk
