Mary Katrantzou for Topshop

Monday, 13 February 2012
London Fashion Week designer Mary Katrantzou is launching her first full capsule collection with Topshop this week. The collection for spring/summer 2012 takes its cue from Katrantzou’s autumn/winter 2011 mainline range, whilst keeping the Topshop girl in mind, and marks her biggest Topshop collection to date, following on from the success of two small lines that she has previously designed for the high street store.

The exclusive nine piece collection focuses on Katrantzou’s trademark vibrant prints and elements of structure. The highlight of the range is the ‘Pheasant Dream’ dress, reminiscent of a porcelain vase, with a fuchsia bouquet formed around a high neckline and a floral china Ming vase skirt.

Other pieces in the collection include tailored trousers, leggings, a t-shirt, a tunic dress and a scarf all featuring exclusive floral prints on satins, silks and jersey fabrics.

“My idea behind the collaboration was to design for the Topshop girl a range that is as close to the aesthetic of my mainline as possible, with great control over the quality of design and production,” said Katrantzou. “I can't wait to see the Topshop girls in the bowl dresses and for the most daring to see them try the print on print layering!”

The line will be available in nine Topshop stores and online from February 17, with prices ranging from £40-£350.
