Run down to Graduate Fashion WeekMonday, 04 June 2012
Celebrating the work of over 1,000 of the finest BA degree students from 39 Universities from all over the UK and beyond, this is an opportunity for the general public and national and international fashion experts to spot the stars of tomorrow.
So this year’s judging panel to decide on the winner of the £20,000 George Gold Award will include prestigious names, such as Daphne Guinness, Suzy Menkes and Christopher Bailey, whilst other names giving over their time to the event, will include Matthew Williamson, Mary Katrantzou, Livia Firth and Caroline Burstein.
With such esteemed fashion figures present, this year’s event will include mini celebatory events to top off the anniversary Graduate Fashion Week and offer visitors an ever more interactive experience, such as a blogging bar, a pop up shop, and live photoshoots, as well as an ‘ask and tell’ session with Fashion Fringe founder and industry expert, Colin Mcdowell.
GFW is very grateful to its title sponsor George at Asda which are supporting the event for the second year running.
George Brand Director, Fiona Lambert commented, “As we enter our second year as the title sponsor of Graduate Fashion Week, George continues to be one of the biggest supporters of young talent. We are passionate about fashion and we are committed to nurturing and championing the talent of tomorrow by investing in skills, promoting fashion as a career choice and highlighting the breadth of roles in the industry, and providing job opportunities and experience as they progress their futures.”
GFW is a charity and receives no support from the government, it was founded in 1991 by Jeff Banks CBE, Vanessa Denza MBE and John Walford, to unify the many British fashion colleges which at that point showed around the country with no synergy or focal point.
