Prabal Gurung for TargetWednesday, 24 October 2012
American retailer Target has announced that New York-based fashion designer Prabal Gurung will be its next collaborator for its budget-friendly designer collection. The Singapore-born designer follows in the footsteps of
Jason Wu, Missoni, Rodarte and Proenza Schouler, and will create a limited-edition collection of women’s ready-to-wear and accessories, which will launch next year.
The Prabal Gurung for Target collection will feature nearly 80 items such as refined dresses, edgy blazers, jewellery, footwear, mixed-media skirts and handbags, which according to Target all the looks will reflect Gurung’s “distinct aesthetic for impeccable tailoring and feminine silhouettes, and will feature striking prints, hot-hued palettes and sleek styles”.
“I am so thrilled to be working with Target on a collection that brings my designs to a wider audience,” said Prabal Gurung. “This collection was inspired by love and if Target’s guests can feel even a little bit of the love that I felt while I was designing this collection, then I will consider it a job well done.”
Commenting on the latest collaboration, Trish Adams, senior vice president of apparel and accessories, Target, said: “Target’s partnership with Prabal Gurung embodies our commitment to bringing great design to our guests at truly affordable prices.
“Prabal has quickly become one of the industry’s most influential designers, and this collaboration enables Target’s guests to shop a beautiful, feminine assortment from a modern visionary.”
The collection will arrive in Target stores and online from February 10, 2013, with prices ranging from 19.99 to 199.99 Dollars for apparel and 12.99 to 39.99 Dollars for jewellery, handbags and shoes.
In addition to his upcoming solo collaboration with Target, Gurung has also created two pieces, a wool cape and a bow-clad clutch for the Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection, which launches on December 1.
