Global charity fashion campaignThursday, 03 March 2011
Last year Lucy Yeomans, Editor of Harper’s Bazaar and Baghdad-born charity founder and author, Zainab Salbi launched the T-shirt campaign. The designers involved include Donatella Versace, Frida Giannini for Gucci, Veronica Etro, Angela Missoni, Albert Ferretti and Rossella Jardini at Moschino. They all created their on T-shirt with their individual signature style.
Designers are also photographed by Charlie Gray in their T-shirts for a feature about the project, which will appear in the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK. Gucci is hosting a Twitter competition next week to win the exclusive Gucci Tee signed by Frida Giannini. On her design Frida Giannini for Gucci commented: “I am always very optimistic – it’s a message of hope because the balloons inspire happiness. We personalized it with one of our icons, the horsebit. These balloons are meant to raise your spirit high!”
Founded in 1983, Women for Women International is a humanitarian organization supporting women in conflict. The charity’s support includes counselling, vocational and business training, literacy and numeracy skills and rights awareness.
The T-shirts are available for £39 each from Browns online and in stockists worldwide.
