Monday, 19 March 2012
Department store Debenhams has announced that it will be the official formalwear supplier for the men’s and women’s GB hockey teams until 2015. The retailer has supplied complete outfits to all 79 male and female team members and coaching
staff including Olympian Simon Mantell and star player Helen Richardson. The formalwear will be worn to all formal engagements including the Sultan Azlan Shah tournament taking place in Malaysia in May, the Investec London Cup and at the Great Britain Hockey Olympic gala send off dinner in July. The
men’s uniform consists of a grey Red Line suit, Red Herring shirt, tie, brogues and Merino wool knit jumper chosen from the retailer’s spring/summer 2012 collection; and the women’s team will be wearing a classic black Principles by Ben de Lisi shift dress and tailored jacket with Faith court shoes. Both uniforms are available for customers to buy in stores nationwide and online.Debenhams felt that the partnership was a natural choice for the retailer, following customer feedback that found hockey resonates strongly with their customers, which is played in most schools throughout the UK and has the most equal gender split of any sport.
Debenhams Trading Director, Suzanne Harlow said: “We are thrilled to be supporting such a fantastic team when sport is at the forefront of our customers’ minds. We hope our partnership will raise awareness for a great sport and wish the GB Hockey teams the best of luck for this summer.”
