Uniqlo’s June same-store sales down by 7%

Monday, 02 July 2012

Reporting a decline of seven per cent in same-store sales as compared to same period last year, Japan-based apparel company Uniqlo announced its financial status of its stores performances in Japan for the month of June, 2012. Sales at its own stores were reported to have declined by 4.3 per cent. Whereas, total sales including online sales declined by 4.6 per cent. The same-store sales in June were dampened by the powerful Typhoon Guchol that swept across Japan and cool weather in the latter port of the month.

In June, Uniqlo closed one store while the 37 stores that were unable to operate for one week or more following the March 2011 disaster have been removed from the same-store total from March 2011.

Uniqlo is a Japanese casual wear designer, manufacturer and retailer. The company was originally a division of Fast Retailing. On November 1, 2005, it was restructured as a separate wholly owned subsidiary called Uniqlo. The company also operates in China, France, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
