Stella McCartney opts for theatre over showMonday, 20 February 2012
Stella McCartney's return to London Fashion Week was always
going to be a highlight. Rumours abounded what collection she would be showing: would it be an Olympic sportswear range, a pre collection, or a tribute to celebrate her namesake brand since she left the house of Chloe.
The audience was in for a treat, for the event began with a lavish dinner, followed by a magic show in which Alexa Chung was levitated, and then in true theatre style, various models and celebrities got up from their tables to show off their glorious dresses and gowns, like a navy paneled maxi dress worn by Yasmin le Bon, or a black version mini by Kate Moss. Perhaps this presentation wasn't so much about the clothes - these will be shown during Paris Fashion Week in March. Instead it was about Stella McCartney proving she is a serious player in the global fashion industry. And one who knows how to throw a decadent party.
