Matthew Williamson to launch footwear and bags

London Fashion Week designer Matthew Williamson is adding to footwear to his label, which already produces ready-to-wear and accessories.

The company is planning to expands into new categories including footwear and accessories through a number of licensing agreements.

Williamson will collaborate with US premium footwear manufacturer GMI Corp to develop a footwear collection. The Spring/Summer range will be available in department stores, select boutiques and stand-alone stores.

He will also design, manufacture and distribute a collection of handbags for A/W 2013 with UK-based TGL Brands.

The collection will include casual, career and evening styles and feature Williamson’s vibrant colours, prints and embellishments.

Joseph Velosa, CEO of Matthew Williamson, said: “We have naturally evolved into a lifestyle brand over the years and the time feels right to add relevant strands to our fashion core. We have three stand-alone stores and two franchise partners, and they particularly wanted accessories to be part of the mix, so we have a full offering.”
