Marks & Spencer has confirmed that Miranda Curtis
will join the retailer’s board as a Non-Executive Director from February next year.
The high street retailer’s appointment is to help aid its global growth, as Curtis brings with her a vast experience of working with international consumer businesses. During a 20-year career with TV and entertainment distribution companies Liberty Media and Liberty Global, Curtis helped to develop its operations across Europe and Asia. Additionally, Curtis was President of Liberty Global Japan, where she played a major role in the creation and eventual sale of J:Com, which Liberty sold its stake in for approximately $4 billion in 2010.
Commenting on the appointment, Robert Swannell, Chairman of Marks & Spencer said: “I am delighted to welcome Miranda to the Board. In addition to her extensive experience of business and Boards, Miranda will bring a valuable perspective of international consumer business and technology to our strategy, set out by Marc Bolland in November 2010, to become an international multi-channel retailer.”
Curtis also sits on the Board of Governors of the Institute for Government, and was recently appointed as Chairman of Waterstone's.
