Is Asos for sale?

Asos may be soon find itself in new ownership, as Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is thought to be acquiring the UK.

Reports indicate that the online department store recently reviewed the Asos’ books and earlier this month Brian McBride, the former chief executive of Amazon UK, joined the Asos board as chairman

Asos is one of the largest UK clothing companies, consistently performing and performing well with high-end clothing brands. The brand is an interesting acquisition for Amazon because upmarket clothing labels have been diffident about dealing with the Amazon platform, fearing that selling their products on its website would damage the perception of their clothes as high fashion.

It was also reported that Asos is set to post a “surge in profits” - more than double last year to 30.3 million pounds, also making it attractive to Amazon.
