H&M to open first store in South America

Swedish fashion retailer H&M has announced that it will open its first store in South America in the first half of 2013.

The store will be a full concept flagship and will be located at the shopping mall Costanera Center in Santiago de Chile, Chile.

Karl-Johan Persson, CEO at H&M, said: “It is our first step into the Southern hemisphere, and we see great potential for further expansion in this fashion conscious region. We look forward to bringing fashion and quality at the best price to the Chilean customers.”

The move is part of the fashion retailer’s intensive international expansion plans, which includes opening stores for the first time in Bulgaria, Latvia, Malaysia, Mexico and Thailand.
