With an unforgiving fashion week calendar, the distance between the Topshop venue
– in the old Eurostar terminal in Waterloo – and Somerset House proved a bridge too far. In other words many editors missed the Marios Schwab show to be able to attend the Paul Smith catwalk show, a major advertiser and therefore a 'must' on the show list.
Traffic chaos caused by the closure of Westminster Bridge for a charity bike ride – authorised by London Mayor Boris Johnson, who officially opened London Fashion Week on Friday, failed to take in consideration that editors don't have more than 15 minutes to get to a show.
