Aurora Fashions, the owner of UK fashion chains Coast, Warehouse and Oasis, saw like-for-like sales surge 13 per cent over the crucial Christmas trading period.

The retail group reported total sales increased by 13.5 per cent in the five weeks to December 31, while gross profits climbed 9.2 per cent. In a statement, Aurora said that while numbers were down in the run-up to the peak period, Christmas trading was “strong”.

This year, Aurora launched its 90-minute delivery service across its UK stores to attract younger customers, and has bolstered its senior management team.

According to its website, the group operates 1,278 outlets in 33 countries including the US, Denmark, Russia and Australia, with total sales of more than £500 million.
