Asos Q4 sales rise 31 percent
Wednesday, 19 September 2012Asos, the global online fashion and beauty retailer released its fourth quarter 2012 results
reporting an increase in the retail sales 31 percent year on year basis. It retail sales in UK went up by 15 percent and internationally by 42 percent.
Nick Robertson, CEO, commented: “I am pleased to report that trading for the three months to 31 August 2012 has been strong, with total retail sales up 31 percent to 141 million pounds (229.07 million dollars). Retail sales for the year to 31 August 2012 increased 38 percent to 538 million pounds (874.04 million dollars).” Also Asos said its retail gross margin improved by 70 bps over the period.
The international sales increased 65 percent as compared to 60 percent last year. This quarter, the group had 5 million active customers - an increase of 35 percent year on year basis. The CEO also confirmed that the company’s sales performance in its markets where it has a website continue to outperform. “Profit for the five months ended 31 August 2012 and pro forma full year, are expected to be in line with expectations, and we approach our new financial year with continued confidence.”
Asos through its e-commerce platform retails and distributes over 50,000 branded and own label product lines across womens’ wear, menswear, footwear, accessories, jewellery and beauty with approximately 1,500 new product lines being introduced each week. Aimed at fashion forward twenty-somethings globally, Asos attracts 18.8 million unique visitors a month. As of 31 August 2012 the number of its registered users stands at 9.2 which was 6.4 million during the same period last year. It has 5 million active customers which were 3.7 million in August 2011, from 160 countries.
