Key Responsibilities
- Producing commercial and detailed shoe designs

team on key looks, trends, and shop reports for shoe trend areas
- Gathering internal and external information
to drive product and range development for the target customer
- Working with the Buyer to evolve the range to
ensure it continues to meet the needs of the customer

- Ad hoc project work as required
Key Skills
- Proven experience in a similar role (either
manufacturing or retail background)
- A shoe design related qualification

Product Manager Apparel ASICS
You create part of the ASICS Europe Apparel collection in such a way that it links up with the needs of the market and the global and European collection strategy, and contributes towards the realisation of the commercial objectives of ASICS Europe.
Development
- Handles the transfer of the line plan, which is received from the Product Marketing Manager Apparel, to the Developers Apparel.
- Coordinates the plans and concepts during the development process with the Product Managers Apparel and Marketing.
- Is responsible for implementing and administering the line plan. To this end, steers the Developers Apparel and external designers.
- Selects external designers, makes price agreements and monitors, evaluates and steers their performance.
- During the development process, checks that working methods and procedures are followed correctly, as well as monitoring progress and checking that deadlines are met.
- Obtains and processes feedback on the line plan, concepts and samples.
- Is responsible, together with the Sourcing Manager Apparel, for the quality and feasibility of commercial objectives of production.

- Evaluates the estimated production costing done by the Developers Apparel. Irons out any problems.
- Assists with the launch of new collections by holding presentations.

Management
- Assists the Senior Manager Apparel in formulating the Apparel plans.
- Develops the product line plans, in consultation with the Senior Manager Apparel and Product Marketing Manager Apparel.
- Draws up a budget for the own section for the Senior Manager Apparel.
- Is responsible for realising the plans and producing the collection within the set departmental objectives and timelines.
- Reports periodically on how work is progressing to the Senior Manager Apparel.
Leadership
- Instructs, coaches and motivates direct reports.
- Makes clear agreements with employees with regard to work coordination and required approvals.
- Keeps up to date on how the employees' work is progressing, offers support and provides any necessary guidance.
- Is focused on the development of personal skills and the realisation of goals of his direct reports.
- Supports the Senior Manager Apparel with the execution of HR policies.
Market research
- Keeps abreast of developments, trends and market needs relating to Apparel, colours, materials and the manufacture of Apparel products.
- Evaluates the sales figures for AEB Apparel, in cooperation with the Product Marketing Manager Apparel and Product Managers.
- If necessary, performs other work when asked.
Communication
- Internal: The contacts that are required to perform the described position, a.o. employees in the SCM, Footwear, Marketing and Sales departments, colleagues at ACJ and AAC.

Knowledge and experience
- HBO (higher vocational education) diploma in the field of fashion/apparel development or commercial economics

What s the context and purpose of the role?
Mongolia has made massive leaps to infiltrate the global textile economy and is working to develop the skills of its younger workforce, the level of development of textile design in Mongolia is still not as advanced as the country need to be in order to be competitive in the global market place. You re skills will help to develop the design and production skills of the staff and students, helping to update their knowledge to international standards. The Textile Institute has 11 teachers and 27 researchers, with 5-8 graduating students annually, all of which are employed in textile companies around Ulaanbaatar. There are five labs, two mechanical testing labs, one textile chemical lab, one dye lab and one analytical testing lab. These are the only labs of their kind in Mongolia. Wool is washed and carded on site.
What does the role involve?
- Develop the contents of new modules.
- Teach students on specific design modules.
- Support teaching staff on developing the contents of new modules.
- Deliver workshops to staff on specific design related topics as necessary.
- Work with and develop the skills of textile designers in local industry (approx 20% of time).
- Work with industries assisting to develop new design (approx 20 % of time).
- Negotiate with local factories to allow the institutes students access to their facilities.
What skills, experience and personal qualities are needed for the role?
You ll have a degree or equivalent qualification in textile design or a related subject. You ll need to pair this with at least 3 years practical experience of textile design, ideally with some experience of teaching or training. With a background in retail management and visual merchandising, you ll be able to give the students experience of textile marketing and design ideas and practices.

You develop part of the Apparel collection for ASICS Europe by translating designs into finished commercial end products, in such a way that departmental objectives are achieved.
Development
- Discusses starting points for new Apparel collections with the Product Manager Apparel and the development team, on the basis of the line plan.
- Develops concepts on the basis of designs, by drafting style, colour, size and material specifications according to guidelines from the development team and on the basis of the stages of the development process.

The role will involve:
Visual Communication
· Deliver all VM communication including product, layout and styling packs to deadlines. Liaise with VM Manager, field team and Brand Visual Manager for input and content. Convert this information into user friendly guides for stores
· Create a monthly ‘Style Guide’ for all stores showing new themes and product in future colour groupings. Enhance with styling tips and key pieces.
· Support VM Manager with the Visual Excellence process and the production of materials for Visual Excellence
· Produce the Sale and Mid Season packs for all stores
Design
· To constantly review and move the VM communication on to ensure it is consistently user friendly and representative of a stylish modern brand
· To ensure all design materials for Retail use in store are available and up to date. Support other Retail functions with their communication to ensure consistency
· Grow knowledge and understanding of product and themes through liaising with the Buying and Design teams on a regular basis to ensure VM communication is up to date and informative
· Support Display through the communication of Display guidelines to ensure they are in keeping with VM communication
Graphics
· Manage ‘Graphic request’ hotline
· Support VM Manager with all Retail graphic set-ups, allocations, delivery etc.
· Produce JDE’s on the system
· Assist with new store openings. Produce product overlays, support and manage the VM teams and issue new store opening packs.
Key Skills
· Excellent knowledge of Apple Mac, In Design, Photoshop, Quark, Word and Excel.
