Liberty is to open a standalone flagship store in Knightsbridge this summer. According to WGSN, the two-floor store will open on Sloane Street, near Sloane Square, and house the store's leather accessories, scarves, swimwear, jewellery and men's collections. Liberty said the new store "marks an important step in the brand's development as a luxury retailer and will be the blueprint for concept stores throughout the global market-place."

Designed in conjunction with creative director Tamara Salman and Paris-based architects Pierre Beucler and Jean-Christophe Poggioli. Salman said: "I want to create the ideal backdrop for Liberty of London's decadent mix of beautiful products. I hope it will echo Liberty's opulent past, while projecting a unique and contemporary vision of the brand today."

Beucler and Poggioli, who are also known for their striking architectural designs for fashion houses such as Comme des Garçons, Dior Homme and Lanvin, said: "Our creative engagement with Liberty of London is driven by the opportunity to work with a passionate team and the challenge of creating a design that will integrate Liberty's strong heritage with its image for the future."

Since 1875, Liberty has been synonymous with luxury and great design. Arthur Liberty’s intuitive vision and pioneering spirit led him to travel the world looking for individual pieces to inspire and excite his discerning clientele. Liberty is not a name above the door, it’s Arthur Liberty’s legacy, which stands for integrity, value, quality and above all beautifully designed product. This vision and spirit continues today within the iconic Tudor building.

In the 1890s Arthur Lasenby Liberty built strong relationships with many leading English designers. Many of these designers were key figures in the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements and Aurthur Liberty was instrumental in the development of Art Nouveau through his encouragement of such designers. The store became one of the most prestigious in London.
