The V&A is to launch a Fashion V Sport exhibition this summer. The show will explore the creative and fluid relationship between the two
worlds of contemporary fashion and sportswear.
The exhibition will look at how the two industries have collaborated over recent years, from contemporary fashion designers working with sportswear brands to sports personalities heading fashion campaigns and even designing their own collections. It will also explore the influence of sportswear on the catwalk, particularly for menswear, as seen in collections by Prada, Balenciaga and Visvim as well as on street fashion including Jeremy Scott's recent collaboration with Adidas and individually customised of branded products such as I-Saw's hand-engraved Nike trainers. About the V&A, the museum as its ethos enables everyone to enjoy its collections and explore the cultures that created them; and to inspire those who shape contemporary design. All our efforts are focused upon a central purpose - the increased use of our displays, collections and expertise as resources for learning, creativity and enjoyment by audiences within and beyond the United Kingdom.
