Gaetano Sallorenzo, Ceo of Fashion Box – company at the head of the Replay, We Are Replay and Replay & Sons brands – is pleased to announce the appointment of Gigi Vezzola as its new Creative Director from January 2009. Vezzola will be responsible for overseeing all the lines of the group, licenses included, and the brand image in Italy and around the world.
Gigi Vezzola began his career in fashion in the late 1980s when he worked for Krizia. He then spent seven years in the Dolce&Gabbana style department, until he was offered the chance to become Creative Director at Samsonite, which was launching its first fashion label. As a result of this experience, Vezzola was also able to experiment with a different side of fashion and the strong influence of industrial design. At the same time he started to work as a consultant for various companies – such as Pirelli and Costume National – and design his own line, Mantù, produced by Castor.
“I decided to accept this great challenge because I think Replay is one of the most important brands on the international scene, at a historical moment when denim is an integral part of everybody’s wardrobe. My experience in luxury prêt a porter, rubbing shoulders with many celebrities, led me to tackle the theme of everyday fashion. Denim is the perfect combination of all that, being glamorous, contemporary and above all versatile. Replay has a strong identity, which goes beyond anything a Creative Director can do. I will have the honour of drawing on the amazing back catalogue of Replay collections and reformulating the genius of Claudio Buziol with a contemporary twist”, commented Gigi Vezzola on his new position.
