In a week of demure collections by Italian standards, Frida Giannini at Gucci did not shy away from opulence when
presenting the House's autumn 2008 collection at Milan Fashion Week.
The luxury collection, inspired by "Bohemia past and present, from the 'annees folles' to performers like The Citizens Band today," featured a float-away silk dress adorned with tiger heads as well as a a brown leather bolero punctuated with gold disks and had full-length fur sleeves. A bounty of boldly patterned dresses ranged from flippy, flirty drop-waist numbers to long 20s-inspired gowns in velvet and crepe de chine, wrapped with tassels and beads were teamed with the new house bags, an aged python carryall and a miniature treasure-chest evening bag. There was no shortage of fur on the catwalk, with trims, wraps and accessories featuring the likes of mink and fox. |
