Alessandra Facchinetti, the new creative director at Valentino, is terminating her post at Moncler, to follow in the ever successful footsteps of Valentino Garavani, Faccinetti is due to present the first Valentino collection in March 2008 since the designer's high profile departure.

According to Reuters, private equity firm Permira, which bought the group in early June, were looking for someone younger and more commercially minded to lead Valentino's expansion into new markets and product lines.

In four seasons at Moncler, Facchinetti helped put down jackets back on the fashion map, developing styles suitable even for formal soirees. The Moncler design stint was also a way for Facchinetti to stay involved in fashion after her short-lived experience at Gucci, where she succeeded Tom Ford, but was swiftly replaced by Frida Giannini.
