Monday, 26 February 2007

Alexandra Shulman, editor of British Vogue, hosted a sublime soiree at decadent eatery Savini in Milan for the launch of Vogue India last week. In attendance were the 'who's who' of the fashion industry, including Giorgio Armani, Stefano Pilati, Matthew Williamson and Col in McDowell, who caused a stir on the door with cameramen when he arrived with a German actress on his arm.

Vogue India will be based in Mumbai and will be the 17th edition of the magazine, hitting newsstands in the subcontinent's autumn. Nicholas Col eridge, Conde Nast UK's managing director, will oversee the launch. Col eridge said: "India is a subcontinent with a uniquely rich and fascinating culture. To launch an India edition of Vogue at this time is an exhilarating assignment."

Vogue India's editor-in-chief will be Priya Tanna.
