A Mexican shoe firm has developed a new line of footwear with a microchip that allows companies to monitor the whereabouts of their employees. The shoe company, which employs more than 210 people over three sites, has invested more than USD 1 million in the project. The firm said it expects the development to boost sales by as much as 25 per cent and give it a larger share of the domestic industrial shoe market. However, the development has raised concerns over companies being able to monitor their workers' movements all the time.
