Marc Jacobs is New York favourite

Marc Jacobs has kept his kudos as fashion's most directional designer. For AW06, his collection was taken in an entirely different direction and the catwalk was dominated by multilayers and volumed pieces in rich, dark tones.

The new layered silhouette had buyers and press cooing over something new and fresh - away from the lady-like looks of last winter's collections. His colour palette, of rich reds and greens made their way to knitwear, backless plaid dresses. Jacobs seems to set the bar high for New York fashion week and it will be interesting to see how London, Milan and Paris follow. The high street, no doubt will be quick to react.
