US fashion retailer Gap Inc has announced that Andrew Rolfe, president of its International division, has decided to quit the company, effective this week. "Now that we have built a strong, more decentralized International organization, Andrew feels it's the appropriate time for him to take on new challenges," said Paul Pressler, president and chief executive of Gap Inc. "I want to thank Andrew for his many contributions." The International division has successfully managed to shift key business functions such as marketing and merchandising into local markets. It also launched Banana Republic in Japan and established an international franchise business. Rolfe will assume a senior position with private equity firm TowerBrook Capital Partners. Meanwhile, his position will not be filled at Gap. European and Japanese business units will now report directly to Pressler. |
